Hej! I’m Nadia (she/her/they), born 1992, half from Spain, half from the USA, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
I am currently a PhD student in Interaction Design at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, exploring critical feminist design of technologies for the intimate body and the social and environmental ecologies it entangles. My PhD work draws from feminist posthumanities to explore how to design for experiences of menstruation, fertility, sexual and reproductive health in ways that uplift embodied, sensory and material knowledge. I am interested in fabrication with textiles and biomaterials, and bring together participatory and speculative approaches in my research.
Previous to my PhD:
During Spring-Summer 2021 I recieved funding and led a project called Biomenstrual︎︎︎. Previously I’ve worked on the project Transforming the Colonial Archive︎︎︎ and during 2019-2020 I worked as a software artist at rethread︎︎︎, exploring novel ways to communicate the values and social layers of software through art and interaction design. In the latest project, I engaged with feminist entanglements of software and knitting in 'Softwear'︎︎︎
I graduated from a master's in Interactive Media Technology at KTH where I did my thesis within the Digital Women's Health group︎︎︎, exploring the design of menstrual cycle technologies through a feminist HCI lens.
I’ve also been part of the team taking care of MIDDLA︎︎︎, the interaction design lab and makerspace at the MID division.
